The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of

Auditions are held at the beginning of each
semester during the first week of classes. A brief ten-minute audition for
the Symphonic Wind Ensemble includes playing selected major scales, a short
prepared piece and a simple sight reading piece.
Symphonic Wind Ensemble:
The Symphonic Wind Ensemble is the most advanced ensemble for wind
and percussion players at UNC-Charlotte and includes 55 to 60 participants
annually. While the majority of its members are music majors, many students
from other academic disciplines are also represented on the roster. The
Symphonic Wind Ensemble rehearses MWF-12:30-1:45 in Room 210, Robinson Hall Building.
The Symphonic Wind Ensemble performs
traditional and contemporary wind band literature of the highest caliber and
regularly features soloists and other guest artists on concerts presented
every 6-7 weeks, or twice per semester. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble has taken
annual tours to Virginia and throughout North Carolina. In February
2006, the Wind Ensemble was invited to perform for the College Band
Director’s National Association Southern Division Conference, at Vanderbilt
University, Nashville, TN.
